The Hittite civilization is distinguished from the world’s first civilizations by its principle of equality. Women and men were considered equal. Women had the same say as men in daily life, religious, and political affairs. Some queens’ seals were even placed alongside the king’s seals on treaties, including the world’s first peace treaty, the Treaty of Kadesh. One of these queens was Puduhepa, one of the most important queens of the Hittite Empire, whose seal appeared next to the king’s. Puduhepa represents peace, women’s rights, and the strength of Anatolian women, serving as an inspiring figure for them.
Throughout history, women in Anatolia have faced numerous chalenges. Their strongest traits have been the resilience, hard work, and social commitment they have displayed over the ages. Despite harsh geographical and economic conditions, they have worked with great dedication to sustain their families and communities. This tradition, which began with Puduhepa in the Hittite Empire, has continued to the present day.
When designing our buffet, we wanted to draw inspiration from the Anatolian woman and the strength she represents, embodied in Puduhepa. The buffet has a massive and masculine form but also possesses elegant and delicate details. It is both graceful and strong, just as we envisioned, just like the Anatolian woman…
The Handle:
One of the most special details of this buffet is the handle. It is carved from Mardin stone by our craftsmen from Mardin and represents Puduhepa’s seal. The handle, used to open this buffet, is the very seal symbolizing peace and the power of Anatolian women.

Care & Maintenance
Silver Care:
Each Marāu creation is meticulously handcrafted by master artisans, carrying forward the timeless legacy of Anatolia.
Its surface is finished with 33-micron 999 fine silver plating and protected with a transparent lacquer coating to preserve its beauty for many years.
Cleaning & Care
- The transparent protective layer significantly delays tarnishing.
- Clean only with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If needed, gently wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately.
- Do not use detergents, chemical cleaners, alcohol, or silver-polishing products.
Usage Guidelines
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, humidity, or heat.
- Prevent scratches by avoiding contact with sharp or abrasive objects.
- If the coating is compromised, please contact us for professional restoration and re-coating.
For Long-Lasting Elegance
- Routine dusting is sufficient.
- As each piece is made from natural materials, it may develop subtle signs of aging over time. Thanks to the protective coating, this process remains minimal and aesthetically refined.
